Manipulation: an objective analysis of the literature.

Therapeutic manipulation is one of the oldest and most enduring treatment approaches to spinal pain. Multiple clinical trials have been structured to assess its therapeutic efficacy. A review of these reports suggests that in the acute circumstance, manipulation may hasten recovery but is not of significant benefit in the management of chronic spinal pain.
