A case of tinea corporis purpurica.
Mycoses 2007 July
We present a case of tinea corporis purpurica localized to the legs of a 47-year-old woman. Trichophyton rubrum was the aetiological agent. So far, only a single report has been made on tinea corporis purpurica. Although the exact mechanism of purpura formation is unknown, we postulate the virulence of the fungal strain and host immune response to play a role.
