Rare cause of block to reduction after radial head dislocation in children.

This case report documents a rare cause of block to reduction in association with an anterior traumatic dislocation of the radial head in children. The radial head dislocations described were not reducible with a closed reduction secondary to "button holing" of the radial head through the anterior joint capsule. Open reduction was required to release the capsule and reduce the radial head. After reduction, the elbow was immobilized in flexion and the forearm in mild supination for 3 weeks. Postoperatively, all patients demonstrated full elbow function and range of function.
