The effect of teeth in the line of mandibular fractures on healing.

The occurrence of complications where teeth are retained in the line of mandibular fractures was compared with the situation when teeth are removed. The frequency of complications was found to be 16.1% in the former situation and 13.7% in the latter (P greater than 0.05). This finding supports the view that teeth in the line of mandibular fractures can be preserved when antibiotics are used prophylactically.
