COVID-19 Infection Unmasking Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency.
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enzyme deficiency causes hemolysis when RBCs are exposed to oxidative stress from acute illnesses, drugs, and chemicals. Here, we discuss a case of COVID-19 infection presenting with hemolysis and found to have G6PD deficiency. There are currently no cases like this scenario found in a literature review.
